Guidelines
I'd like to think I'm a pretty easy guy to get along with. As long as you follow a few simple rules, your experience here (and in turn, mine as well) should be a pleasant one.
1) I don't tolerate software piracy. Since I am a small time software developer who has seen the loss of a significant portion of my income due to piracy, I've developed a very sour attitude to pirates. You guys used to just try to 'stick it to the man' by pirating the expensive products made by companies that won't miss the loss of income, but lately you've turned that attitude into one of 'I don't want to have to pay for anything', and this hurts folks like myself who need the income to stay in business. As such, if you are running your site on pirated software, or are using your site to help distribute pirated software, please don't be a jerk to me, and just leave now. I don't want to have to go gung-ho in a quest to ferret you out, it takes up too much of my time. If I agree to not hunt you out and report you to the proper authorities, can you agree to just leave me in peace and not take advantage of me? That'd be great.
2) I'm not big on advertising. I likely will not ever put ads on this site as they make me look cheap. So please do not use this site as a means to promote your own. That includes posting any kind of advertising topic, putting a huge link to your site in your signature (a non-obtrusive link is fine), or using your About Me page as an advertising system.
3) While I won't put ads on the site, I'll gladly accept donations should you feel I'm worth it, but I'm not going to beg. Donating more than $5 will get you into the Premium Members group here, with some benefits, but I would really rather you not think of that as something you can buy into. Donating should always always always be done just because you want to help or show your appreciation. If you donate and then ask me why you haven't been promoted, expect to get your donation refunded.
4) Please don't re-register a new account, like an everlasting gobstopper, one should be plenty for anyone. If you have a problem logging in, email me.
5) Remember that this is a forum, it is something that helps everyone best when everyone can see the discussion. So please don't take things offline, either through the personal conversation feature, or instant messenger, if it's likely to be something that someone else can benefit from.
6) Finally, just please be mature and respectful to others. I do IP.Board stuff for fun, I don't want to be spending my time breaking up fights, or dealing with other bad behavior. If I see stuff like that, expect me to come down hard so that I do not have to be revisiting the issue. If you want to act like a child, go to 4chan.
