It is a strange one, the youtube issue doesn't apply to the admin group but the smilies in the shoutbox does.

I'll keep looking. Is there a per group BBcode setting?

Fixed the youtube issue

Look & Feel - Post Content - BBCode Management - choose BBCode - Which groups can use this BBCode

Still got the smilie issue.

Can you clarify exactly what it is that it's doing? For example, is this in the hook, or in the app? Are you typing the code or are you clicking an emoticon image from the menu?

Can you check the database and see what it is storing for those shouts in the 'shoutbox_shouts' table? It should be storing the HTML code for the emoticon image, not just the emoticon characters.

Both in the Global hook and when viewing the full shoutbox or archive. The smile shows in the post editor but doesn't in the resulting shout.

Typing the code or clicking the smilie.

Since the board upgrade the db only shows the code for the smilie not the full path.

There's already an option for this under the Shoutbox tab in the Manage Groups page.

No, there isn't. I mean, you can restrict MEMBERS group by post number, that's what I did. On my board, only who has 150 posts (or more) can USE the shoutbox... At the same time, users on MEMBERS group with 0, 1, 2 or 100 posts can VIEW the global hook, but can't use. I don't think it makes sense a group view the shoutbox but can't use it 'cause the user doesn't have the number of posts required. Admins should have the option to choose: USE AND VIEW shoutbox.

It's just a new IF, as I posted above! 10 seconds of your work can accomplish it on a new version.

Can you PM me the details for your site (Admin account user/password and FTP) so I can diagnose this? This is very strange, I didn't touch anything in recent versions that should have had any effect on this.

I don't think you're understanding how the setup works currently. There are currently two boolean group options, can view the shoutbox, and can use the shoutbox. There's the additional option for allowing it to be used only when you reach a certain post threshold. With your suggestion, even if the option that said they could view the shoutbox was set to Yes, they couldn't view it if they didn't have enough posts. That's not what the post count setting is there for; it's there to indicate how many posts they need before they can use it. It's perfectly valid to have a setup where people of a given group can view the shoutbox but not post in it.

I think what you're actually asking for is a new setting for the number of posts they need before they can view the shoutbox. If that's really what you need, then I suggest you setup group permissions that would promote people after a certain group to a new group that does have permission to view the shoutbox. Otherwise, if you still want the new setting, it's definitely not just a quick 10 second fix like what you're suggesting. If that is what you want, you can make that suggestion in the Tracker.

Yes, I'll make the suggestion. Thank you.

Hi Michael,

Since upgrading to IPB 3.3 and Content 2.3.0, the shoutbox buttons are not working on the content page only. I figured it might be a javascript error, so I did a fresh install on my local server for IPB 3.3, Content 2.3.0, and Shoutbox 1.3.0 and the same thing is happening. Is there anything I can do to get this working?

Thanks,
Mike

It's evidently an issue with the new IP.Content:

anyone noticing the refresh button wants to disappear after a while?
or that the global wants to organize by descending order when in ascending setting until the page is reloaded?
just noticed these after being upgraded to the 1.3 on 3.3 board

On previous editions there was an ACP option setting for the Shoutbox to be displayed on each page, or, only on board index view, is the pop up option on the latest version a substitute for the Shoutbox to be displayed on each page?

Nothing changed about the settings you're referring to, they're still available in the Global Shoutbox settings.

After upgrading to the latest shoutbox version it seems like after a member shouts their cursor handle leaves the editor text field (de-activates). Is it possible for it to remain in the text box so they can easily shout again without the need to re-click inside the field to begin typing?

Previous versions seemed to keep the cursor inside the text field after shouting. Is this a side effect/compromise for having the enter key submit a shout on the shoutbox tab page now? Thanks.

The global shoutbox hook should already behave this way, I set it so the full Shoutbox app will do this too in the next version.

Is there a way to clear the shoutbox daily, say around midnight?

There's a scheduled task built-in that can do this, just set the 'Prune Old Shouts?' setting in the Shoutbox Global Configuration settings to -1. You can change when it does that by editing the task under the System Scheduler section in the Admin CP.
