I need some help or good advice for doing something in the cPanel.

Question 1. I have a web forum IPB now the url ends in .us ...so now is where the problem comes in, I was able to purchase a domain with the same name ending in .net ..it became available so I snapped it up, people have a rough time looking for .us forums....

I have a friend doing the cpanel work, and suggests we need a new database, so this was done, now we can't figure out how to get the .us forum database over to the .net forum database. I have the .net domain as a Sub Domain.

I do not think this is the way to go. According to my Host it should be done from within the forum itself. I think this is just transferring the same data over to another database..everything ending in .us goes with it..

Question 2. I see Micheal's Tutorial on changing the forum url, and to me this is what should be done, and I figure this is also what the Host is also suggesting..

Now I think this is all. Can I get some feed back on this please..

Thank you!
Ron..

not sure if its "right way but I had similar issue last year (smf not IP though) and in phpadmin on the old domain I exported using replace attribute.
then on new domain I imported and where the old domain was I edited.

If you are looking to move the forum from the .us domain to the .net domain, the easiest way I have done this in the past was to (Through your ftp) backup both the forum and db from the .us domain to your system then transfer to the .net. Create a new db for your .net account and transfer the backup to the new db. I just basically did this yesterday after completing my server install. just remember to make the necessary changes in the conf_global.php file and you'll be fine.

I hope this is what you are looking for...
