With this modification you can set icon for every or only selected forums.

Features:

• enable/disable mod,
• two display mode: next to the forum name (without any file or skin edits) or instead of indicator icon (require skin edits - work fine with the ajaxed marking),
• set allowed extensions,
• set maximum file size,
• set maximum dimensions for icons,
• enable/disable icon per forum,
• tool to convert old settings from old version.

Note: skin edits are optional (but require to work in one of display modes).

Hello!

I need help please. I have installed this hook on my IPB, I've followed all the instructions. When I changed the forum icon and saved the settings. I'd always have this error:

There appears to be an error with the database.

If you are seeing this page, it means there was a problem communicating with our database. Sometimes this error is temporary and will go away when you refresh the page. Sometimes the error will need to be fixed by an administrator before the site will become accessible again.

You can try to refresh the page by clicking here

Then when I click the link [here], I got this error:

System Error
[#2100] Security Mismatch - please go back and reload the form before attempting to submit the form / press the button again

Thank you so much for the response. I was trying to set the forum icon for one of the forums (Spam Forum) and I got an error. Here's the 'real' error:

Hello again,

It seems like I missed out the part where I have to install the hook.xml but when I tried to upload it, it gives me another error.

[#111159] Your hooks directory is not writable.

How do I make the directory writable? Where can I find the hooks directory? Please, help me.

EDIT:

Fixed it. I've created a new directory and made the permission to 777. The hook was installed and everything is working already. I've got one last problem though, the image doesn't show up. It's broken. Then I checked the url, the filename was changed. It's supposed to be spam.png then it turned out to be spam.png_off.gif, does that mean I need my imges to be on .gif format? I'll try to change them to .gif now.

Upload all the .png images to the required folder using your FTP client, then once they're in there... edit the names of them to .gif

example:

image1.png > image1.gif
image1_off.png > image1_off.gif
image2.png > image2.gif
image2_off.png > image2_off.gif
image3.png > image3.gif
image3_off.png > image3_off.gif
etc etc etc etc

removing the .png extension from the filename and replacing with .gif will allow you to use .png images as the forum icons, and you will find that it should then work

Is there an option where you can disable opacity being set to .5? I want it full opaque regardless of marking if the forum has been read.

it's simply..

Open file: admin\applications_addon\other\forumicons\sources\classes\library.php
Find:

$l     = $ligher ? "style='opacity:0.5;filter:alpha(opacity=50)'" : '';

Change to:

$l     = '';

Done!
