We would really like a members map as our site will be a global debate about the environment and the location factor may well be important

if using the member map addon just slide it down in the acp, the apps can be dragged there.
think thats what you mean.

It includes instructions. FTP the files up as per the instructions, then install it via Manage Apps / Modules.

no need to pay, did you unzip and upload the files in the upload folder to your forum directory? if so the in your admin panel under manage applications it should show as ready to install.
if not you probably uploaded to wrong directory.

good article here
http://community.inv...pplication-r537

when you unzip the file there is folder called 1.06, indide it are the 2 folders to upload to wherever your site is.
if your site is in /forums directory then upload these to that directory, may have to allow over writing.

really is just a shorter version of what you did to install your site to begin with, same procedure just less files.

where is your site hosted? you add/upload it to there.
you had to upload your ip site somewhere at some point unless you're using their hosted plan. if so I have no idea how they work.

You need to upload IP.Board applications into your forum's root directory. You do this given the FTP info your host provides, whether they be IPS or some other web hosting company. Do you have FTP info provided by your host which points to the folder where your IP.Board is installed?

if its an invision hosted community I have no idea how they work.
I thought I had read you submit a ticket or something similar to get them to add applications but I could be way off.

They should have provided you with FTP info too, installing third party resources is permitted when hosting with them, but it's something you do yourself. Go through the emails you've received from them and see if they've provided you with FTP details. If so, plug those into an FTP program (FileZilla is a good free one) and see if you can connect to your site.
