I think you should enable FaceBook connect for the people who have FaceBook, Micheal I relize you don't use FaceBook so I've done that side of things if you want to enable this.

I've personal messaged you the information if you wish to use it.

I still don't understand the purpose of it. I don't use Facebook, so how could this benefit me, just by giving people an easier way to register? The IP.Board registration system is not exactly difficult to use, is it?

Saves updating status everywhere and pictures, would benefit a lot of your members here. :)

I'll let the other members reply to let me know if they'd actually benefit from it or not, personally I'm not convinced as many people would benefit from it as you might think.

I'll probably try this later today or tomorrow to see how well it works etc and post back with my honest opinions etc :)

I'd (guess) I'd have to use my live converted board for this as the localhost one will not be able to properly communicate with Facebook (again, not sure)

Will post back anyway with my findings B)

I moved my board back to a web visible location (as its been running 3.0 for a while without issue now anyway)

I could not get Facebook connect to actually work on my first few attempts, eventually the errors pointed towards issues with some of the Facebook Connect settings (not the generated keys)

I managed to sort those out but upon linking an account this error is generated...

[#90001] An error occured while attempting to authorize this Facebook Connect action

(spot the typo)

It's obviously my settings and configuration that's causing this, so I need to check the documentation (I have not looked at it yet) for Facebook Connect.

:)

EDIT... Some documentation is here > http://resources.inv...es&article=7637 , I will look at that later.

No, still cannot get it to work unfortunately. I had the settings correct anyway as far as I can tell. Have changed a few things server environment wise so I have more sensible URLS (including adding the recommended .htaccess) , the actual error is being generated at this point according to the logs...

/forums/index.php?app=core&module=global&section=login&do=fbc_login

I'll have to put a bit more time into it later as it is logging into Facebook via IPB fine, it just will not allow me to connect the accounts together.

:)

Andy, do you want me to set it up for you?

Just give me the url to your forum and I'll make some keys for you to use to test it.

I have a Facebook account and created the app and have the keys ;)

I can login to facebook via my boards login fine, its just the actual optional step where you are given the option of linking your board member account to your facebook one that's the problem.

Thanks for the offer though, appreciated :D , I do have a few ideas to try later first though.

OK, I think I have this set up and working now. I managed to use it to sign on (making a new account here in the process) so I think it's all good now.
